This here be the Acer Aspire One.

And isn't it just the most gorgeous piece of gadgetry you have ever seen?

It's a subnotebook, also known as a netbook. The screen is 8.9 inches, it has a 1.6mhz processor, 512 RAM and instead of a conventional hard drive, it uses a 8gb flashmemory. So not exactly a highpowered computer, but on the plus side, it only weighs 2 pounds and has a battery life all the way up to 7 hours.

And I'm so getting one as soon as I get some spare cash... which would be on September 2nd.

OooOOooo it's all purty and blue and portableness ^_^

Exaclty, portableness is the key with this. It's the perfect laptop for surfing while having a nice chai latte at a cafe.

That is a snazzy bit of kit. I'm pondering something like that for the next time I upgrade. Get myself a good, solid home 'puter and a simple but pleasing portable alt.

*saves pocket money...*

Well, then you should also look at Asus Eee PC. It's smaller, cheaper, and has even longer batterylife. Doesn't look as purdy, in my opinion, but in white it is still a snazzy gadget.

It won't be for a while. Even yours might look bulky and obsolete by the time I get around to it.

Styles and I have thought about getting a Eee PC for traveling, but his computer needs are far too demanding.

Ooh! Acers are so often so sexy, but I have had a very bad experience with mine. Don't get me wrong - it still functions (somewhat) after several years of hard usage but a few minor problems appeared in this order:

1) Dead pixel on left side of screen - was no problem except if there happened to be black in it. Then it showed up bright green.

2) The cd drive broke. I tried to glue it back and failed, then tried to use a rubberband with greater success. This didn't work very well though so I just resorted to opening it very carefully in a certain way so it wouldn't fall off all the time.

3) it stopped letting me type "ääkköset". No matter what I did, it just did cyrillics instead. And I'm not exactly totally inept with pcs, so I don't know what was wrong with it. Perhaps formatting would have cured it.

4) Some internal fan broke. Now I have to prop it up on top of a high tower of books so that it gets sufficient amounts of air.

Still, it was really good for its price, and I shall always love my little Shodan. <3 Better luck with yours!
