Yes, but that's just part of the story. What I love, is how he displays these tiny little signs of weaknesses, especially during his meeting with the mob leaders. For instance, when he is called a freak, he goes a bit... queasy, and forgets what he was saying. Brilliant.

I loved his subtleties. Somehow, when he was calmer and seemingly a little more stable, he managed to come across even more menacing.

Unfortunately, I have little faith in The Acadamy. Just look at the success of Titanic! The only reason they handed out so many awards to Return of the King was because they were pretty much bludgeoned over the head with its success, and there wasn't even a hint of a Best Actor/Actress nod.

I wouldn't hold my breath for them to hand one out to the villain in a super-hero/comic-book movie, even if it is one of the greatest performances of any actor in the history of acting.

I disagree. Yes, while Titanic was maybe not that good of a movie, it was remarkably well done. Let's be honest here, it did deserve at least half of it's Oscars.

Where as Return of the King, I don't think the movie deserved a Best Actor or Actress Award. To whom would you give it to? It was a true ensemble cast, 20 characters all playing a vital role, an actor Oscar was impossible.

Haha. The first time Joker told his story about his scars, I was like, "You mother fuckers!!! How dare you try to humanize him!!!". Then when he gave the second, completely different, story, I was like, "Fucking brilliant!!!!"

It seems that the Joker keeps a bag of these storys to help frighten his victims, but I like to think that the insane fucker takes it a step further and actually believes these stories-- even though they conflict with each other.

Titanic was a dull romance masquerading as blockbusting disaster movie. It possibly deserved awards for the production and effects, but it was otherwise a dreary mess.

And, to be honest, I don't think Return of the King was deserving of everything it recieved, either. The trophies should have gone to The Two Towers, but that's part of my point: The only reason the nods went to RotK was because The Acadamy couldn't ignore the success of the trilogy. The film that deserved them the most was ignored.
