An Inconvenient TruthI watched the much talked about documentary today, and I must say, I can't understand why so many people are talking trash about it, or calling Al Gore an alarmist. If he were a real alarmist, he would run around screaming "Holy fucking shit my Christ, we're all gonna die, we're all gonna die!!!". Take a look at some of the real alarmists some day, you can see them at every Greenpeace rally wearing gasmasks and screaming bloody murder. Gore is calm and talks sense. Not exactly what I'd call an alarmist. He simply states that there is a problem, that humans have impacted the climate, but that there is things that can be done. Gore tells only things that are already out there. He goes through things that are public knowledge and scientifically proven, mostly, in a condensed way that is clearly made for the, no offense, average American with a 20 minute attention span. And not only does he show the scientific research and evidence there is that clearly states global warming is a reality, he also shows how and why people have been mislead in to believing people like him are alarmists after political or financial gain. As documentaries go, it is a bit boring, especially for someone who already knows most of what is dealt with, but still definitely watchable. And I must say, Gore has come a long way from the drone he was during his vice-presidency and the 2000 elections. Back then I wasn't at all impressed by him, he was not inspiring and I thought that if he would win, he would be a one term president. But now Gore has new found charisma. He talks with more than one tone. He even blinks once in a while. He takes the audience and even gets some laughs now and then. Definite improvement. Presidential material, perhaps? But in any case, I do suggest you have a look, it may be an eye opening experience, or it may simply be a nice documentary to watch if you have the time. 11:05 - 2007-May-16
